Mario Lopez’s Workout

It has long been debated how Mario Lopez really works out. He recently showed his superb conditioning – a lean and toned muscular body, in the show Dancing with the Stars.

Boxing Workouts Keep Mario Lean

Mario Lopez constantly trains and boxing is one of his weapons of choice to keep himself fit. Often times he spars with semi-pro boxers. He claims to have sparred with Oscar De La Hoya, James Toney and Shane Mosley. Mario authored a fitness manual called “Mario Lopez’s Knockout Fitness” and the title seems to hint at his passion: boxing. In the workout book Mario admits that to be really fit we need to train hard. Not everybody is in top shape because not everybody is willing to do the work.

Mario Lopez Training

Mario constantly switches around how he trains. The reason for this is that he is in ‘maintenance mode’ in regards to his muscle mass. So his main goal is to stay lean and not gain excess weight in the form of fat. But if we want a Mario Lopez physique, we need a plan that focuses on the Hollywood physique: wide shoulders and a small waist. Unlike most folks, Lopez has the genes for it. Mario has a natural v-shape frame (small hips) so he can focus on building up the chest and shoulders. Another advantage are his relatively shorter upper arms – this is a good thing cause he is able to easily build sizzling biceps muscles.

What is the Diet that Mario Follows?

Mario wrote a recipe book: his guide to healthy eating “Extra Lean.” This is his first cookbook. The actor acknowledges the importance of diet when trying to achieve or maintain top shape. If we are to try to lose weight just by exercising, we would have a very hard time, even if we train as much as Mario. In his book Lopez authored more than 40 recipes and shares meal schedules with 1200-1300 calories with mainly vegetables and lean meats. This is a solid diet approach – the reason being that we dramatically over estimate how little we can eat if we are to lose bodyfat. Now, Mario Lopez likes his food. In order to maintain a low body fat percentage we need to eat a very low calorie diet. Or, like Mario Lopez, we could eat smart and live a very active lifestyle.

Staying At The Beach Under The Sun

Whether he realizes it or not, he has struck gold by working out outdoors and spending time in the sun. Walking around shirtless is a great motivator to keep in top shape. This also works the other way around. The guy enjoys sprinting outdoors which boosts the metabolisms and keeps you lean. Training outside of the gym, and especially at the beach, is simply way more fun. Of course it doesn’t hurt that his stunning girl shares the outdoor experiences. Finally the sun’s own vitamin D stimulation is a great overall health booster. Staying in the sun, safely, is a win.

The Fit Life of Mario Lopez

In his own words, Mario is addicted to exercising. He’s been consistently in top shape ever since he starred in the TV show Saved by the Bell as a teenager. Keeping fit and lean has preserved his youthful looks. Many times we make the mistake of aging ourselves prematurely by gaining fat in our faces or bellies and losing muscle tone.Mario Lopez switches things around to avoid staleness. Boxing, weights, biking, swimming, running, pickup basketball or yoga – it’s all good. This activity level adds up to a high level of caloric expenditure. So the Mario Lopez workout enables him to maintain a very lean body.
